Dear Pro,

I have been interested for some time as to how the Theory of Everything relates to psychology. You said in your blog that sometimes you have manic-depressive type of feelings and I will tell you that the Theory of Everything apllies here. In your pro theory I believe you are correct when you say that there are three potentials to forces-positive, negative, and neutral. This relates to the forces that control the psyche and it can be demonstrated in manic-depressive symptoms. Manic behaviors which are postive which include: feelings of euphoria, happiness, optimism and depressive behaviors which include: depression, pessimism, loss of appetite. The third potential is important because it neutralizes these strong forces of the psyche and the third potential of the psyche won't be solved until the unified theory is solved.
A fresh take on the browser
9/01/2008 02:10:00 PM
At Google, we have a saying: “launch early and iterate.” While this approach is usually limited to our engineers, it apparently applies to our mailroom as well! As you may have read in the blogosphere, we hit "send" a bit early on a comic book introducing our new open source browser, Google Chrome. As we believe in access to information for everyone, we've now made the comic publicly available -- you can find it here. We will be launching the beta version of Google Chrome tomorrow in more than 100 countries.

So why are we launching Google Chrome? Because we believe we can add value for users and, at the same time, help drive innovation on the web.

All of us at Google spend much of our time working inside a browser. We search, chat, email and collaborate in a browser. And in our spare time, we shop, bank, read news and keep in touch with friends -- all using a browser. Because we spend so much time online, we began seriously thinking about what kind of browser could exist if we started from scratch and built on the best elements out there. We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that's what we set out to build.

On the surface, we designed a browser window that is streamlined and simple. To most people, it isn't the browser that matters. It's only a tool to run the important stuff -- the pages, sites and applications that make up the web. Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go.

Under the hood, we were able to build the foundation of a browser that runs today's complex web applications much better. By keeping each tab in an isolated "sandbox", we were able to prevent one tab from crashing another and provide improved protection from rogue sites. We improved speed and responsiveness across the board. We also built a more powerful JavaScript engine, V8, to power the next generation of web applications that aren't even possible in today's browsers.

This is just the beginning -- Google Chrome is far from done. We're releasing this beta for Windows to start the broader discussion and hear from you as quickly as possible. We're hard at work building versions for Mac and Linux too, and will continue to make it even faster and more robust.

We owe a great debt to many open source projects, and we're committed to continuing on their path. We've used components from Apple's WebKit and Mozilla's Firefox, among others -- and in that spirit, we are making all of our code open source as well. We hope to collaborate with the entire community to help drive the web forward.

The web gets better with more options and innovation. Google Chrome is another option, and we hope it contributes to making the web even better.

So check in again tomorrow to try Google Chrome for yourself. We'll post an update here as soon as it's ready.

Update @ 3:30 PM: We've added a link to our comic book explaining Google Chrome.

I'm still deciding what to do with this place at the moment. As I've said I'm not sure what to do as it's a forum but at the same time it's like my personal interests website, my links, my online presence etc. I suppose I'm just worried that people will think it's just me on here as every topic is started by Pro all the time.

At the end of the day though this place is my dream. I've always had this dream you see of a place or website or something similar that's just an enormous repository of knowledge and video for everybody to share and learn from. This is one of the reasons why I offer free server space and publishing to all registered members, and Blogs too.

I want this forum/website to be a place that I'd like to stumble across myself you know what I mean. When I find a great forum or website I usually feel like I'd not fit in wherever it is. I'd have to join and read the rules and then post conservatively until people got to know me etc.

Well I want this place to be different. I want it to feel friendly and interesting, not so that lots of people click on my non-existent Google ads, or so that lots of people donate money to me, I'm just doing it because it's what I want to do :)

I want guests to feel as though they can just join and ask a question about anything that interests them. I don't want it to feel like a highly specialised academic institution where people are looked down upon through their lack of knowledge.

I taught myself everything I've ever written about online, all my maths and physics essays were meticulously researched by me. The Millennium Problems, I read an article about the Riemann Hypothesis one day in New Scientist and discovered a year or so later that there were 6 other problems and I learnt them all by myself.

As I'm completely self-taught I'm in a good position to help others to learn as I've done it the hard way you might say and now I want to pass on my knowledge and skills to others. When I say others I literally mean any interested party or person. I believe that no subject or idea is beyond the reach of any person, it just takes time and patience to learn new things and this is where I hope to help.

I'm off topic already. This is another of my problems. As you can no doubt tell I'm interested in a LOT of things. This arises from my ADHD symptoms and constant boredom. I basically decided to learn whatever I could at every waking moment to stop my chronic tendency towards intense boredom.

I find it extremely difficult to write about myself you know. It's beyond the scope of this blog entry to fully explain why but I find it extremely difficult to this day. I think that broadly it's a combination of my manic descriptions when I'm forced to use text to communicate, my fast and infinitely connected thoughts, and basically the fact that I change every day and so there aren't many unchanging things I can say about myself.

This is why I embed so many videos on this forum all the time and also why I decided to move into online video as a communication medium. I've always thought that if a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is worth a million at least isn't it. Seems logical to me anyway.

So what I do is embed any video that I find interesting or informative or cool etc and also try my hardest to talk clearly about physics, calculus, maths, numbers, the theory of everything et al. If you take a look at some of my earlier responses to challenges to Pro theory I was less than coherent although I still haven't been beaten on anything yet. Pro theory is a TOE after all!

I mean I don't know what to do, I'm just a chiller you know, I think the best things I can depending on how I feel. When I go to bed I spend my time thinking about everything I've said or done that day and try to think how I can be a better person.

I've written the theory of everything for everybody and I'm giving it away with interpretive support from myself and I'm not just interested in maths and physics. I'm into BBOYING, Locking, RV, coding, walking, recycling, hardcore and gabber, Riverdance, psychology, DIY you name it and I'm interested in it.

I'm just trying to feel my way along I suppose, trying to keep my head and trying to make this forum work for everybody. It's not just forum, it's my website as well so if I want to start lots of topics I think I will

I just needed to get this out of my system, thanks for reading :peace:

I've found hundreds of different translations of the Tao Te Ching but none of them compare to my own book, The Illustrated Tao Te Ching, by Element Books Ltd, ISBN 1-85230-322-0, translation by Man-Ho Kwok, Martin Palmer and Jay Ramsay.

This is the only quote from this book I can find online at the moment:

The Tao that can be talked about is not the true Tao.
The name that can be named
is not the eternal Name.
Everything in the universe comes out of Nothing.
Nothing — the nameless
is the beginning;
While Heaven, the mother
is the creatrix of all things.
Follow the nothingness of the Tao,
and you can be like it, not needing anything,
seeing the wonder and the root of everything.
And even if you cannot grasp this nothingness,
You can still see something of the Tao in everything.
These two are the same
only called by different names
— and both are mysterious and wonderful.
All mysteries are Tao, and Heaven is their mother:
She is the gateway and the womb-door.

I've got the full book sitting on my bookshelf, I'm hoping to write it all up onto my computer as it's so amazing. I won't literally write up every single page I don't think as it changes in parts to a different philosophy on war etc rather than the universal ideas that I love so much.

This is the only religious book that makes any sense to me at all. The more I read and think about it the more of Pro theory I see in it. China is the longest unbroken civilisation in the whole world so it's no wonder they've had the universe worked out for thousands of years.

I've had this book 'The Illustrated Tao Te Ching' for quite a few years and it's still my favourite book and the one that makes sense. From my research I think this particular version, it's by Element Books, is out of print but I bet you can find it on Amazon and/or eBay.

EDIT - Here's a link to this book on Amazon:

Common advice to new or startup forums is not to display a lot of empty forums as your board will look inactive. Good advice if running a forum is the only thing you're interested in.

The thing is that this forum has always been about discussion and also a sort of open archive of my many interests. I've got a few thousand videos alone in my head that I'd love to put up here for people to watch, let alone all of the sites I regularly visit etc.

Anyway, I'm sort of going against the advice and sort of not at the same time. If this were just a forum and not a place for me to post my interests I'd shrink it down a lot but as it stands it's like my own Wikipedia.

Forums are a lot easier to edit than websites as you can edit them live with no hassle. My plan is just to keep posting threads and articles, tutorials etc about the things I like and see what happens.

I'm not looking for 10 million members names on some list just for the sake of it. I'm looking to build a combination of think tank, archive of interesting and informative topics, and a community for discussing everything while I'm at it.

I'm interested in so many varied things that I need to try and categorise them in some form or another just to make this place navigable for everybody. The many forums serve as much as a display cabinet for my ideas and interests as they do as forums.

I'll just have to keep trying :meditate:

Everybody seems to know about the world famous YouTube. People seem aware of AOL and Yahoo video and some even still talk about Google video as well. I've been known to post a lot of videos into this forum in various forms and on various topics and people often ask me how on earth I found so many good videos.

I'm often asked how many days of searching and trawling through search results it took to find videos such as Powell Peralta's Public Domain, or the SAS Survival Secrets series. The answer is that I figured out a while ago that it was highly likely that somebody had already beat me to the idea of an external archive of video sites and video content.

I did a Google search for "free online documentaries" or something similar and it came up with a myriad of sites that dedicate all of their time to indexing online video sites. If you've ever used YouTube extensively for your own videos you will know that their site only gives you a linear page view of all your videos with no way to adjust the ordering.

I suppose there are the playlists available but most users browse in the linear fashion I think. I know I myself do this and so if a video is buried on page 76 of a user's videos listing it's unlikely that I'll find it unless I chance upon it from a search.

And this is where external sites come into their own. I currently have 141 public videos on youtube.com/protheory for example and on each video it gives you a list of 'sites linking to this video' using YouTube's embed feature. This is a good starting point for sure but it's even easier to search for a site that has already indexed lists of videos per topic of interest.

My personal favourite example is a site called Best Online Docus which is great and has a lot of content organised into an easy to navigate format. The majority of videos on this site are hosted on Google Video which is a real gem in the video world as it doesn't appear to limit the size of its videos.

There are full films, complete tv series and much more on Google video, the longest single file I've seen was at least 2 hours long and I thoroughly recommend it.

I've been told by the local garage that in order for my car to pass its MOT test this year it will need a new part that costs £100. I don't need this part to drive my car safely as it goes to so called 'normal breaking' when my Anti-lock Braking System doesn't engage but I've been worried about this for a long time now and my car's due for its test on March 20th.

Anyway, I've been talking to Dudster (member) who I work with in real life and he suggested I'd be able to get this part cheaper. I looked last night online and sure enough it is £100 for a totally new part but it's only £25 for a second hand one which is a quarter of the price :D

I'm not usually the bargain hunting type but this time it's actually for a practical purpose as I'm skint (got no money). Normally I'd be working full time as I'm self employed but things have been a bit slow lately and I've not had much work on.

Hopefully we'll be able to fit this part ourselves once I've ordered it, here's a picture of what I'm talking about:

I thought it would be some kind of microchip or similar, don't really know why it's just what came to mind. If I can fit this myself with a little help from my mates I might be able to get my car through its MOT. After all in my life it's a case of no car equals no work :p

I've got this problem. In fact I've got a lot of problems. My problems may not be life threatening but they're still problems that affect me daily....

I've got this problem. In fact I've got a lot of problems. My problems may not be life threatening but they're still problems that affect me daily. My main problem is finding the concentration to reply on time to all my e-mails and messages etc. I've had this problem for a long time now and it's getting to me.

I've got the best of intentions but I find words extremely difficult to write or type. I always worry a lot about what I'm writing. Am I seeming too over the top? Am I seeming like I've not read the message properly? Am I too late to reply? All these things bother me a great deal but I can only do my best I suppose.

That's what they always say isn't it: "you can only do your best..." Perhaps I'm paranoid, perhaps I'm not, who knows. I'll just have to keep trying won't I. I know this of course but it doesn't seem to work.

Another thing is writing introductory comments on this forum. I struggle so much with what to write in the threads so that it seems interesting and invites people to read what I write. And the forum descriptions, the key words for search engines etc. The list goes on and on.

The thing is that in the past I've made some terribly stupid comments online to various people and as I suffer from bi-polar mood swings and dyslexia and also ADHD it's no wonder really. I often feel as though people won't believe me when I try to explain why I get so excited sometimes and I can't stop writing. Or why I've been inactive for so long as I don't feel like making videos or writing.

It all depends on my mood but the right text still evades me it seems. I just can't seem to find the words to express myself properly. This was originally why I moved into videos on YouTube, I figured that if I couldn't write I could still talk and I actually feel as though it's working.

This is really great and everything but I now have the dilemma of thinking "oh no, I don't want to post any of my videos in my topics as they might spoil the words..." It's a constant Catch 22 situation for me.

I really try my best to write correctly and show people what this forum is about (helping people) but I still struggle. I don't know, maybe it's just me. I just feel as though if I say that my text descriptions on my forum, the ones saying "Discuss Pro theory...theory of everything" aren't good enough people will think I'm looking for reverse psychology compliments.

Oh well, hopefully by trying to write about my problems they will get better. This is after all the main principle of therapy, talk about your problems and you can explore them :)

Embedding YouTube and Google videos into posts

If you would like to embed videos in your posts from YouTube and Google Video, all you have to do is post the url into your message and post it. A...

If you would like to embed videos in your posts from YouTube and Google Video, all you have to do is post the url into your message and post it. A description may help of course so that everybody knows what your video is about and what it's called but by default the forum will display the original description from the video itself.

When you view a video on YouTube for example you will see on your right a url which you can select:

If you can't see this box with the url in it just click the little link on the right saying '(more)' to view the full video description.

Once you have copied this url you just paste it into your post and reply as usual. It works exactly the same as when you post a link using the button on your editor bar. The forum knows that the url is a video and plays it in your post a lot like this:

Note, you can't use the auto embedder in Blogs at this time but you can use it in your posts. I'm using custom code to display this example video I filmed last year at Leeds Festival.

I particularly like this aspect of YouTube and Google Video because it means that I can post about a video and instead of having to send somebody all the way over to another site I can play it directly :)

This way you can also guarantee that others will see exactly the same video that you intended. If you find it difficult to concentrate while online like me then you will appreciate being able to watch an in-line video without added distractions.

It's also great for video galleries, much more interesting to watch a video gallery all on a single page than to have to click a bunch of links then click back, then another link then click back.

Final tip, if this seems only to post the code instead of the video make sure you're posting the URL code and not the code entitled 'embed.'
